Sabine Spitz – Talent

You started mountain biking relatively late – at the age of 22. Are you blessed with a lot of talent?

My first coach gave this definition of talent: „Talent is the ability to train harder and longer than others“ – and he trained me according to this principle. In the beginning, he had to test my limits and was surprised at the amount of work I could easily do and how the level of training increased from year to year.

Early on he made it clear to me that cycling is a tough endurance sport in which you can achieve 80 percent of your performance after about 6 years and need another 4 years for the last 20 percent. That may sound hard, but for me cycling is a passion and I like to train.
