Performance vs. Depression

Top sport is about performance, victories, winners and money. Success or titles are recognized and financially rewarded. Competitive athletes are under constant pressure to improve their performance in training and to compete.

In professional sports, especially tennis, players fight for their jobs almost every day. Defeats and weaknesses are not welcome. Failures can lead to sporting but also personal crises.


Unfit, overwhelmed or sick ?

It is questionable what effect performance pressure has on the person. As long as people are comfortable and productive, they can cope with pressure.

Competitive athletes move along a fine line. When pushing the limits, they can get overloaded, overwhelmed or overtrained. If a high performance athlete suffers from the sporting requirements, action needs to be taken !!
